Top 4 Reasons to Live in Dallas Design District

When it comes to Dallas neighborhoods, the options are endless and truly offer something for every style and taste. Today, we’re focusing on one of the key players in the game by bringing you the Top Four Reasons to Live in The Design District. Ready to learn more about this trendy ‘hood? Settle in, babe, you’re about to fall in love at first sight.

With so many different areas, it can be hard to stand out, but the Design District has grown into a must-see, must-do, and must-live spot.

Arts & Culture

Our first reason for living in this social spot is what it’s known best for. When it comes to Art, Culture, Antiques, and all things Design, there’s no better option than the Dallas Design District. High-end interior design showrooms, art galleries, and unique stores line the streets to fill your home with goodies and your heart with memories. While all are incredible, we suggest checking out SITE131, a contemporary art space that features work by local Texas artists and offers residency programs for young talent. The Dragon Street Glass Gallery showcases a wide range of breathtaking glasswork and will also bring you to a popular street to explore. White Elephant and Lula B’s are your go-to spots for antiquing ranging from furniture to records. Planning an event? DEC on Dragon is the ultimate destination for incredible gatherings whether that’s a wedding or a small dinner with friends. You and your guests will swoon over the beautiful interiors, perfect lighting, and unique features. The real showstopper, however, is the rooftop patio, featuring outdoor seating and views of the downtown Dallas skyline, which will leave you feeling like you own this town.

A busy restaurant

Dining & Drinks

After being filled to the brim with culture, it’s time to think cocktails and cuisine. The Design District has incredible eateries offering a range of delicious types of food for all occasions any day of the week. The Meddlesome Moth is an absolute must when visiting the Design District. Serving up a wide range of American dishes, this gastropub offers a substantial amount of beer options sure to satisfy even the pickiest friend. Whether you grab a table, sit at the bar, or head outdoors, you’re sure to be satisfied in your meal and in the social scene.

Craving authentic Mexican food? El Boreo is absolutely the next stop on your list. Hit up happy hour or enjoy any of their many weekly specials, including Taco Tuesday. Think Grab apps at the bar or head to their outdoor patio to take in spectacular skyline views. With stylish interiors and a menu sure to please, this may become your new weekly go-to. Our best tip? Order the churros (or maybe get two orders).

Our next pick for the best restaurants in the Dallas Design District is Wheelhouse. Before you even take a bite, the industrial aesthetic will have you drooling. Exposed beams, metal tables, and open-air seating create the perfect place to dine and watch your favorite sports. Craft cocktails, dishes to share, and a carefully curated menu round out the reasons to try this local favorite.

While gastropubs, bars, and fun cuisine is a wonderful standard, sometimes you need a fancier spot for date night or to impress your boss. Head directly to Town Hearth. Well known Dallas Chef Nick Badovinus has created not only an incredible steakhouse for even the most discerning guests, but an entire atmosphere utilizing design elements such as 64 chandeliers, an MG Roadster parked in front of the kitchen, and a yellow submarine submerged in a gigantic fish tank. Right from the get go, you know you’re somewhere special, and the food will keep the excitement going all night long.

If you’re looking for a jolt of caffeine, or just a place to see and be seen, Ascension Coffee is your best bet. Modeled after Australian coffee shops, Ascension features baristas ready to brew you incredible cups of coffee. You can nosh on light dishes, enjoy yummy treats, or skip right to a glass of wine to wind down your day. Bring a book to enjoy the calm atmosphere, work on your laptop to prove how comfy the seating is, or bring your best gal pal to catch up over avocado toast or hot chocolate. Cheers!
